Air Purification

UV Air Purification

Many ATI Heaters such as The Heat Pure Plus, Heat King, Heat Pure 1500 and Heat Force 1500 come standard with UV Air Purification. The UV air purification in all Advanced Tech Infrared Heaters gives off ultraviolet light in short wavelengths, specifically calibrated to kill germs. The purifier moves air under the high intensity UV light, a known mutagen which destroys nucleic acids at a molecular level. Almost always, UV air purifiers are coupled with other filtration techniques to remove other types of particles in the air. Advanced Tech Infrared heaters provide such amazing value when compared to any other heater or air purifier on the market. You will see many other heaters and air purifiers that only perform one specific function for much more money than you will pay for an ATI heater and air purifier combo. ATI heaters are 2 in 1 units that will both heat and purify the air all year round, providing you ultimate value!

ATI UV air purifiers come equipped with a fan, which drives ambient air to a chamber where it's exposed to the light for at least a few seconds. Any shorter amount of time would not be sufficient to kill pollutants. In just that few seconds of exposure, UV air purifiers kill 99% of germs.

ATI UV air purifiers are ideal for areas heavy with bacteria, especially kitchens and bathrooms. Removing airborne bacteria adds another level of cleanliness which, maintains normal cleaning and can have a positive effect on health. UV light has the ability to mutate microorganisms:

• Bacteria
• Viruses
• Mold
• Fungi
• VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds)

Since these types of organisms consist of just a single cell, the light can permeate them and break apart the bonds in their DNA. These mutations are enough to kill germs, rendering them harmless and unable to reproduce. ATI UV air purifiers are excellent for killing germs and living microorganisms. This includes bacteria that cause illness, which can linger and fester anywhere in your home.

PCO Air Purification

UV air purifiers are not as effective at eliminating inorganic or dead particles, like pet dander, pollen, chemicals, smoke, or foul smelling odors. The Heat Pure Plus, Heat King and Heat Pure 1500 address this issue by utilizing Photocatalytic Oxidation (PCO) technology as a way of removing toxins from the air. This combination of UV and PCO creates an excellent state of air purification unmatched by any other heaters on the market.

PCO uses broad-spectrum UV light, which reacts with a thin film of titanium dioxide in the presence of water. This creates hydroxyl radicals and super-oxide ions that "burn" VOCs and microorganisms adsorbed on the catalyst's surface. With that in mind, many consumers may mistake UV air purification with PCO technology, and rightfully so. However, while both types of technology are similar in that they harness the oxidation properties of ultraviolet light, PCO purification systems utilize UV lamps with additional wavelengths. These additional wavelengths ensure a quicker reaction rate when it comes the degrading of toxic compounds that are polluting the air you breathe. PCO air purifiers have been found to be much safer than ozone and ionization, and they work wonderfully well for those with asthma, allergies, and multiple chemical sensitivity.

HEPA Air Purification

A HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter is a mechanical filter that traps airborne particles as they pass through an air purifier.  A true HEPA filter is rated to remove 99.97% of all particles that are 0.3 microns in size or larger.  A micron, also known as a micrometer is one millionth of a meter.  As a reference point a human hair is approximately 60 microns in diameter and a grain of pollen is 5 microns.  90% of all airborne particles are less than 10 microns in size and the challenge with air purifiers is that most of these particles are too small to see.  The light weight and low mass of these particles allow them to be suspended in the air for extended periods of time while the larger and heavier dust type particles tend to settle on the ground much more quickly.

In a review of air purifier technologies, HEPA air purifiers are the recommended filtration method of leading government agencies such as the American Lung Association, Department of Homeland Security and EPA.  This favorable review is due to the high efficiency of the HEPA filter and it’s inherent ability to improve performance over time.

The Heat Pure Plus is the only infrared heater that combines UV, PCO and HEPA Air Purification. This is by far the most advanced and complete infrared heater and purifier. You get ultimate air comfort with triple purification protection with this unit. Heat during the cold months but purify all year long as this heater operates as a stand alone 4-season air purifier.
